Walk It Off!!

A vigorous five-mile walk will do more good for an unhappy but otherwise healthy adult than all the medicine and psychology in the world. Paul Dudley White

Have you ever noticed how FAST people in the city walk?
When I visited my sister in Maryland, we took the Metro to Washington several times. I learned quickly that if you are not fast walking up the left side of the very long escalators, you had better stay to the right! Wow, some of those people virtually jogged up these quarter mile long escalators.

Then when you get out on the street, it is interesting to watch people hurrying along to work. This was also true when I visited New York City last Christmas. You can tell the tourists, they are the ones strolling along taking in the sights and shopping.

I think living in the suburbs has contributed in part to weight gain in our society. We who live outside the cities hop in our cars and go everywhere. If you live in the City, most of the time you walk. Even if you take the subway or the metro, you still walk to and from your transportation.

Have you ever seen someone get really angry and another person tell them to just "walk it off?" You know it works! A vigorous walk will not only burn calories and anger off, but it creates endorphins which make you feel better about absolutely everything.

So, feeling a little depressed or frustrated, or even angry? Take a walk...walk it off.

RECIPE OF THE DAY

THE TEXAN

Here is a hearty sandwich your family will love...

Onion Rolls
Butter
Lean good quality sliced roast beef
Tomatoes, sliced
Onions, thinly sliced
Cheddar Cheese
Cooked Bacon (keep it simple and buy the pre-cooked kind)
lettuce
Mayonnaise with horseradish (if your family doesn't like the horseradish, just mayo)

Split, if not already split, your onion rolls and spread a small amount of butter on each side and grill the cut side in a broiler or frying pan.

Spread mayo on bottom slice and cover with thinly sliced onion, then tomato slice.
Then stack Roast beef slices...don't just lay them flat, kind of "scrunch" them and push them together...you won't believe what a difference this makes in the taste of the sandwich..putting at least 2-3 ounces on each bun bottom.

Cover the Roast Beef with a generous slice of Cheddar Cheese and broil open faced just until the cheese begins to bubble.

Slap a piece of lettuce on top the cheese and cover with the top of the grilled bun.

Eat up....this is a great sandwich...one of the best sellers in my Deli!

Have a Blessed Day!
