Frankenfood! It's Scary Stuff

Beautiful stuff sweet corn, and although it is not the MOST nutrition dense food, it's still healthy.  It is healthy that is unless it is the frankenfood that Monsanto is trying to sell us.
Wikipedia defines this type of food - GMO as:
A genetically modified organism (GMO) or genetically engineered organism (GEO) is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. These techniques, generally known as recombinant DNA technology, use DNA molecules from different sources, which are combined into one molecule to create a new set of genes. This DNA is then transferred into an organism, giving it modified or novel genes. Transgenic organisms, a subset of GMOs, are organisms that have inserted DNA from a different species. GMOs are the constituents of genetically modified foods.

Now, I don't know about you, but I think God had it right and we don't need to mess with it!  The closer to natural the foods you eat the better, and this is NOT natural.

In an article by Jeffrey Smith, author of SEEDS OF DECEPTION, the following information was presented.
Mon 863 is genetically engineered to produce its own pesticide, a toxin called Bacillus thuringiensis or Bt, designed to attack a corn pest called the corn rootworm. Rats fed Mon 863 developed several reactions, including those typically found with allergies (increased basophils), in response to infections, toxins and various diseases including cancer (increased lymphocytes and white blood cells), and in the presence of anemia (decreased reticulocyte count) and blood pressure problems (decreased kidney weights). There were also increased blood sugar levels, kidney inflammation, liver and kidney lesions, and other changes. According to top research biologist Arpad Pusztai, who was commissioned by the German government to evaluate the study in 2004, based on the evidence no one can say that Mon 863 will cause cancer or allergies or anything specific. The results are preliminary and must be followed-up to rule these out. He warns, however, “It is almost impossible to imagine that major lesions in important organs. . . . or changes in blood parameters. . . . that occurred in GM maize-fed rats, is incidental and due to simple biological variability."

And believe me people, this is just the tip of the iceberg!  Because of the MONEY Monsanto has, and the greed of those behind this movement, a lot of shortcuts are being taken, and if we buy into it, we will be the guinea pigs for Monsanto and others like them.  Farmers who sued Monsanto over the "cross pollination" of their crops by this invasive new GMO corn, LOST!

Monsanto actually accused them of trying to steal their "patented" corn.  We do not want their "patented" corn.  If it kills the insects who eat it, or insects in fact refuse to eat it, doesn't that tell you something.

I am convinced that greed is the cause of most of the problems we are experiencing in our Country and the world today.  Money may not be the root of all evil, but it sure feeds the fire for some of the most dangerous occurrences in our world.  GMO's are not safe, and they definitely are not natural.  Monsanto is trying to market their genetically engineered food WITHOUT labels, so that you won't even know what you are getting.

I don't know about you, but I want to know what I am putting into my body or the bodies of my children and grandchildren.  I try to buy organics whenever I can.  I realize they are more expensive, but I also know they aren't tainted by chemicals which will make me sick.

We need to get back to basics.  Not everyone can grow their own food, and not everyone can afford organic fruits and vegetables, but we can all raise our VOICES and say NO to GMO foods.  We must begin to start taking action to prevent this kind of thing instead of waiting around to moan and groan about the results.  We must tell Monsanto and other companies who are working on GMO's that we are NOT going to buy their frankenfoods.  We must tell our Representatives in the government that we will not stand for unlabeled frankenfood on our grocery shelves.

Currently WalMart has said they are reviewing whether or not to allow Monsanto's GMO corn on their shelves unlabeled as such.  STAND UP...tell WalMart and any other grocery chain considering this change, that we will not buy this corrupted food.

If a worm won't eat it, then I certainly don't want to feed it to my family!
