No matter what kind of container I put it in it still looks kind of ewwwwww....But, really it tastes pretty fair, and what it does for my body is amazing.
I am back to having two juice meals a day for now until I can shake off this last twenty pounds! I don't know about you, but my body seems to have this "set point" which it just wants to hold on to no matter what I do! So, we are back to the Barley Green and other wheat grass and green juices! It does work. But, you can't go crazy at dinner.
I am having grilled fish, grilled chicken and a RAW vegetable like carrots, broccoli or cauliflower for dinner. I am really trying to stay away from all white foods...no pasta, potatoes etc. It doesn't mean I won't crave them at times, but I have made up my mind that during those times I will have a special treat of Chai Tea or a Flavored (not with sugar) Coffee.
I have also committed to 30 minutes a day on the stationary bicycle. That really isn't a lot, and it really isn't difficult. Plus, at my age, it isn't rough on the joints!
Some of the juices which are really great for you are NOT green. Carrot juice freshly juiced from good organic California (they are extra sweet) Carrots (Bunny Love for instance) is quite good. You can choose whether or not you want to add your wheat grass to it or take the wheat grass in capsule form. I will tell you that I firmly believe the powdered wheat grass is more readily absorbed than the capsules, but I know some of you just can't quite stomach the taste!
There are many recipes for making your own juices, and the first thing you must do is buy a GOOD juicer. According to Consumer Research, here are the top five:
As you can see, the prices are all over the place. Most juicers can not juice Wheat Grass, so if you actually want to juice your own grass, you must buy a masticating juicer which will handle it. They do tend to be more expensive.
However, I have been a Barley Green user for many years, and you really can't beat it even by juicing your own. The process used in making it is gentle and doesn't damage the enzymes or overall food value.
Don't be afraid to shop for a used juicer. Many people buy juicers and then quickly tire of the juicing routine. But, I can tell you from experience that if you really develop the juicing habit and stick with it, you will feel better than you ever have in your entire life!
Here are THREE highly recommended juices you can make at home:

1 Cucumber
4 Celery Stalks
2 Green Apples
1/2 Lemon
1 piece of ginger
3 stalks of kale
2 golden delicious apples
small handful parsley
1 lemon
1 cucumber
1/2 cucumber
1/2 apple
1/2 lemon
small piece ginger
1/2 green chard leaf
bunch cilantro
5 kale leaves
handful spinach
1/2 green apple
handful spinach
handful parsley
2 celery stalks
1/2 cucumber
small piece ginger
slice of papaya
Don't be afraid to experiment. I have used beets, carrots and numerous other vegetables for creating my own special juices. Everyone's tastes are different, and you also don't want to get bored with flavors.
I recommend you only make enough juice at a time for the day you are going to drink it. Freshly made juices quickly lose some of their food value when they oxidize. Also, store your juice in a glass jar with as little air space as possible to help prevent oxidation.
You can add wheat grass to any of the above juices, or you can have a daily dose of wheat grass in capsule form or powder form with some organic apple juice or carrot juice. Don't put it in orange juice, as the acid in the orange juice damages some of the value of the Barley Green wheat grass.
Okay, that is enough to absorb for one day! So, join me in juicing and getting healthy or staying healthy! Move it! Move it! Move it!
GOD BLESS - Peace, Love and Joy
